Literacy Specialists required to further boost literacy rates

The Outwood English Hub is seeking to recruit the first cohort of expert primary school teachers to develop and work as Hub Literacy Specialists.

The five specialists will support the newly appointed English Hub lead, Catherine Wright, to deliver the hub’s key performance indicators and improve outcomes for children in the schools the hub supports.

The Literacy Specialists will receive training from the national Training Centre (two days of which will take place in July 2019). The role will allow great opportunity for the specialists and their school, in particular the development of:

• Understanding of excellent practice in teaching early language and literacy, with a particular focus on Systematic Synthetic Phonics

• Skills of teaching, planning and assessment in order to effectively support pupils to make excellent progress

• Ability to support teachers, within their own school and in other schools, to improve standards

Candidates should submit a written application (no more than one side of A4), accompanied by a supporting statement from the principal/head teacher committing to release for the role, outlining why they are suitable for the role and their relevant experience.
