Outwood English Hub Expands The Team
The Outwood English Hub, led by the Outwood Institute of Education (OIE), has expanded its team with four key hires.
Prior to the summer holidays the English Hub, based at Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate, recruited four new Literacy Specialists to support the Director of Reading, Catherine Wright.
The four new Literacy Specialists joining the team are Jackie Gray, Carla Robinson, Katie Pitts, and Alison Smith, and they will play a vital role in improving outcomes for children in the schools the hub supports. As part of the role, the Literacy Specialists will receive training and support from the English Hub Training Centre.
The new hires are all familiar with Outwood. Jackie Gray is Director of Early Years at Outwood Grange Academies Trust, while Carla (Bell Lane), Katie (Lofthouse Gate), and Alison Smith (Lofthouse Gate) are all based at Outwood primary academies.
As part of their induction to their new roles, the four hires have been to the English Hub Training Centre in London for a conference and training. The training was delivered by Ruth Miskin OBE, one of the UK’s leading authorities on teaching children to read and created the ‘Read, Write, Inc’ Phonics programme.
The training and conference were to help those involved with English Hubs to learn more about working with partner schools to develop excellent teaching and learning in reading and early language development.
Catherine Wright, Director of Reading at the OIE, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Jackie, Carla, Alison and Katie on board as Literacy Specialists.
“All four are vastly experienced and will be positive additions to the team. Their dedication and passion for English and improving a child’s education is inspiring, I am excited to work with them closely in the future.”
